Welcome to Mercante Fa Yuan Temple (商贾-法源寺) — our little slice of Italy hidden in the hutong (narrow alley) of old Beijing. Since 2011, we’ve been rolling pasta, pouring wine, and sharing the flavors of Emilia-Romagna—handmade, simple, and full of heart.
Mercante Fa Yuan Temple marks the return to our beloved Old Town atmosphere and we are really exited to welcome you in our lovely courtyard located in a quiet and green hutong area, that during the warmer season offers al fresco tables. The renovation and design was curated by IS 意思 and here you can find some of the ideas that inspired our project.
While if you are strolling around Dongcheng District and its Unesco World Heritage Central Axis come to visit us in our Mercante Drum & Bell and its new Southern Italian seaside themed rooftop, Terrazza Limoni. We are ready for your Beijing’s summer lazy brunches, coffees and aperitivi.
Or if you are playing along “Beijing’s Seine” stop by our Mercante Liangmaqiao and enjoy its unique riverside al fresco dining.
Our dishes are shaped by tradition since 2011
Fresh pasta, hand tossed pizza, real ingredients, zero shortcuts. Our roots are in Emilia-Romagna, and it shows—from handmade tagliatelle, ravioli and lasagna to stewed earthy meat sauces and joyful appetizer to share.
To bring a little sunshine from the south, we’ve added our freshly baked ruota di carro pizza, as we used to do in our award-winning pizzeria, Lievito.
And because good food deserves good company, our wine list now goes beyond Italy—featuring some of China’s most exciting new producers for a fun, cross-cultural toast to flavor.
